Why LeaderFactor

The leader is the #1 factor.

Every decision, every outcome, every culture bears the leader's fingerprints. So we make leadership learnable — put into language, practiced in real work, and proven on a validated instrument.

Our mission

To influence the world for good — at scale.

We named the company after a conviction: in every organization, the leader is the biggest factor. Every decision, every outcome, every culture bears the leader's fingerprints. And leadership, as we define it, isn't a title — it's taking action and accountability to create positive change.

That definition carries a demand. If leadership is action, it can be learned: put into language, practiced in real work, and measured against a baseline. So that's what we build. We take the frameworks our research produced — The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety™ and the skills that followed — and turn them into something an organization can run: a validated instrument to mark where you stand, a skill leaders practice in the flow of work, and a re-measure at about ninety days that shows what actually moved.

The mission is bigger than any engagement. When one leader gets better, a team breathes easier; when a thousand do, an organization changes what it's able to attempt. We're building the most credible leadership norms dataset in the world, and we're putting the best development we know how to make within reach of any organization willing to do the work. That's what "at scale" means to us. And we hold ourselves to the standard we teach — starting where we stand.

Our story

The research came first.

Dr. Timothy R. Clark — an organizational anthropologist with a PhD from the University of Oxford — founded LeaderFactor in 2006 to close the gap between what the research says about leadership and what leaders actually do on Monday. His book The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety gave the field its shared language; the company exists to turn that work, and the frameworks that followed, into skills organizations can build and prove.

The charge

You either lead the way or get in the way.

You govern the social oxygen of every room you lead: how freely people breathe, how much truth survives the trip to the table. A team's brilliance doesn't move on its own — it has to be transferred across tension and friction, and the transfer is yours to make. Nobody else can lower the cost of candor on your team. Nobody else decides what it costs to be wrong. The job is heavy for exactly the reason it matters most: when the oxygen is governed well, brilliance moves.

You are the decisive element. Start where you stand.

Careers

Build leaders who outlast themselves.

Join the team.

We're a small team with an outsized charge, and we hire accordingly. We look for operators who act inside their role and think outside it — people who'd rather build new capacity than protect old comfort. If that's you, tell us where you can make a decisive difference.

What is LeaderFactor?

LeaderFactor is a leadership development company founded by Dr. Timothy R. Clark. It is the company behind The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety™. LeaderFactor teaches seven leadership skills — psychological safety, emotional intelligence, AI leadership, coaching, change management, decision making, and team performance — and measures the resulting behavior change on a validated instrument at week zero and again at about 90 days.

Who founded LeaderFactor?

Dr. Timothy R. Clark, an organizational anthropologist with a PhD from the University of Oxford and a former Fulbright Scholar. He is the author of five books, including The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety, and has advised more than 300 executive teams worldwide.

How does LeaderFactor measure behavior change?

Every skill pairs a named, research-backed framework with a validated assessment — PSindex®, EQindex®, and the rest. The instrument is taken as a baseline before the engagement and again at about 90 days. It is pre/post proof of movement, not a diagnostic: the organization chooses the skill, the problem, and the cohorts.

Is the content customized to our organization?

The method and the content are proven and standard — that is what makes the results comparable. What is yours is the application, the rollout, and the proof against your own baseline. Organizations that need something purpose-built can commission a custom course.

How can we evaluate LeaderFactor before committing?

Book a Skill Preview. It includes one free full Access Pass plus a one-hour facilitated session, so the person making the decision experiences the skill end to end before any purchase.

Is LeaderFactor enterprise-ready?

Yes. LeaderFactor is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and continuously monitored, supports SSO and LMS integration, and publishes its security posture in a public Trust Center at security.leaderfactor.com.
