Team Cohesion
One shared language for every department.
How a sales-led national homebuilder gave its leadership team one shared language for building and running high-performing teams — measured at the team level and rolled up across the business.
Team performance drives the business — so measure it.
This Fortune 500 homebuilder runs a sales-focused operating model spread across the country, where intact team performance directly drives business outcomes. The organization wanted team-cohesion development it could measure at the team level and roll up across divisions — and it wanted the work built to its business, not retrofitted from a generic template.
A common language for teamwork, built to fit.
Leaders worked through Team Cohesion & Performance™ in cohort sessions built on the IPO System — a simple, repeatable way to see a team as inputs, process, and outputs — and on the four areas of cohesion measured by the COHESIONindex™. The assessment gave each leadership team an anonymous, honest read on how it sees itself, and where perception and reality diverge.
The program was tailored to the builder’s sales-led model — including a custom cohesion model and a sales assessment — and delivered to intact management teams, so the whole leadership group built a shared vocabulary at the same time.
A leadership team that finally shares one system.
Participants rated the experience 9.1 out of 10 for overall satisfaction, 9.5 for facilitation and likelihood to recommend, and 9.8 for commitment to their action plan — a Net Promoter Score of 89. Just as important as the scores was the shift in language: leaders left with a common way to talk about teamwork, alignment, and accountability across every department.
I enjoy having a common language with the rest of the leadership team surrounding the topics we covered. The assessment gives us a very targeted path to work on the team’s cohesion in each of the four areas. Short, simple, and spot-on.
The win wasn’t a great day of training. It was a shared system every department can run — and the appetite to take it to the local teams next.
Every result, in one place.
What this means for you
Give your teams one language for performance.
Team Cohesion & Performance™ pairs a simple, repeatable model with the COHESIONindex™ — so leaders can measure cohesion, see how the team really sees itself, and act on it.
